Major search and rescue operation for man missing from hospital

A major search and rescue operation is underway, after a man who requires urgent medical attention went missing from Great Western Hospital.

UPDATE: Mark has been found safe and well.


Mark McCarron, 45, from Haydon Wick, was last seen at the hospital where he was receiving treatment at around 6.10am this morning, 17 July.

“He was wearing a pea-green t-shirt, black shorts with white stripes on and trainers. He is described as a large build with blond hair and blue eyes”, police say.

Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WILSAR), who are a voluntary organisation who special in searching for missing people, will be searching in the local area to assist police.

Inspector Mark Thompson said: “We would ask anyone who sees Mark to contact us via 999. His family and friends are very worried about him and I would urge him to get in touch immediately. We don’t believe that Mark has his mobile phone with him so may not be able to phone for help.”
