Five vehicle collision outside fire station closes Drove Road

A collision, involving five vehicles, at the Magic Roundabout caused serious delays around the town centre and Old Town yesterday evening.

The emergency services were dispatched to the collision at around 4pm on Wednesday 11 November, which ironically happen next to the Swindon Fire Station forecourt, on Drove Road.

The incident caused serious delays around the town centre and Old Town area, with some Nationwide employees reporting that it took more than 35 minutes to travel from Pipers Way to the centre of Old Town.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service commented: “We were called to a road traffic collision at the Magic Roundabout, just outside the fire station, at 16:01hrs.

“We arrived on scene at 16:03hrs, but fortunately there were no injuries and so our rapid response vehicle (RRV) and ambulance were cleared from scene.”

The road was cleared by around 5pm, in time for rush hour.
