Elderly holidaymakers get a nasty shock as they accidentally kill a deer on one of Wiltshire’s roads while making their way to their holiday home.

At around 11am this morning, Saturday 9 July, police officers responded to reports of a car colliding with a large deer on the A4 near Derry Hill, Calne.

The deer was killed on impact, however, Wiltshire Police say that the elderly couple from Southampton were ‘luckily uninjured’ in the crash.

“The elderly couple who were in the area on a weekend break were conveyed to back to Box where they were staying for the weekend”, a force spokesperson said.

“Please be mindful of wildlife while travelling on our roads.”
