Following the Paris attacks last night, concerns are growing for Daniel Rowland, known as the Pavement Poet, who is currently travelling in France.

The popular poet and Swindon 24 columnist started his travels to the south of France by hitch-hiking, which is likely to have included passing through Paris.

We are unsure of Daniel’s whereabouts and his phone is going to voicemail.

Prior to starting his travels into Europe, he told Swindon 24 that his plan was to chalk around the world, and aimed to end up in Australia.

“The plan is simply to chalk as much of this living planet as possible”, Daniel said. “And make what isn’t at present a reality, a reality.

“My exact route, I’m only vaguely conscious of. But the equator is my initial destination, and let’s face facts, I can’t miss that.

“After that, who knows. It would be nice to make it to Australia and back again. But I don’t want to think too far ahead at the moment.”

Daniel’s sister, Laura Lake said: “We’ve not heard anything from Daniel. Last time we heard from him, he was in Le Mons – that was on Wednesday.

“He was planning on heading south towards Spain, but our worry is that hes changed his mind, he does that a lot. He may be in Paris, or stuck at the border.

“We are hoping he’s already in Spain.”
