Wiltshire Air Ambulance attended a car versus pedestrian collision on High Street in Royal Wootton Bassett yesterday, to help a critically ill man.
The emergency services were called to the road traffic collision at around 3.50pm.
The pedestrian, a 78-year-old man, was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by land ambulance, suffering from critical injuries.
Both South Western Ambulance Service and Wiltshire Air Ambulance attended.
The road was closed while the crews dealt with the incident, but was reopened at 8.45pm.
Any witnesses who may have seen the collision, which involved a white Nissan Micra, are asked to call Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
