The day will kick off with a range of festive activities from 11am, including ‘walkabout’ characters such as Mr and Mrs Claus on stilts, rollerskating pixies, and dancing elves, pop up comedians and musicians, and a snowstorm globe.

On the main stage at Wharf Green, performances begin at 5.15pm hosted by Heart’s Ben and Mel. We will see performances from Swindon Dance, Best of Swindon winner, Phoebe Maddison, and the Ugly Sisters from the Wyvern’s pantomime.

Also performing will be 2014 X Factor winner, Ben Haenow, who has said: “I’m really looking forward to performing at the Swindon Christmas light switch – hoping to see lots of happy faces singing along!”

The official Switch On moment by Wyvern Theatre’s Panto star, Ryan Thomas will take place at 6pm, illuminating the Town Centre, followed by a dramatic Firework Display.

Ryan said: “I’m really excited to be part of the Christmas switch-on event. It will be a great warm-up for Panto to be on stage in front of a huge Swindon crowd and see lots of smiling faces, and to be pressing the button to light up the town is a great honour.”

On Sunday, 20 November, Britain’s Got Talent stars Boogie Storm will be dancing at Wharf Green main stage and another X Factor finalist Jay James will join them.

InSwindon will be holding a lantern procession where schools and colleges will be invited to join in the spectacular display and children will have the opportunity of creating their very own multi-coloured lanterns on the day.

Every weekend throughout December, Swindon’s Enchanted Christmas will see plenty of free events going on in the town centre to get everyone in the festive mood so keep an eye out around town.
