The final arrangements are being put into place for Stratton fire station’s Great Get Together picnic this Saturday (17 June).

The fire station in Highworth Road will be open to the public between 2pm and 5.30pm to allow the local community to enjoy a range of entertainment while having a picnic.

The Great Get Together has been inspired by the memory of Jo Cox MP, who was murdered in her constituency last year. More information can be found at www.greatgettogether.org.

Stratton fire station’s Mark Evans, who is organising the event, said: “We want people to come along with a picnic or some nibbles, bring a picnic blanket or even tables and chairs, and enjoy local school choirs, singers and bands, as well as activities for children. It’s all completely free, we just want the local community to get together and have a fun afternoon.
